Tammy joined Border States as the Accounting Manager in 1991. Her positions at the corporate office included Corporate Controller, Vice President Finance, Senior Vice President and Executive Vice President. She assumed general management responsibilities for the Southwest Region in 2003 and President in 2005. Tammy was named CEO in 2006 and has led the company on to unprecedented and continued growth. She has been an officer and member of the Board of Directors since 1996, on the Executive Council since 1997 and was named Board Chair in 2006.
In 2007 - 2008, Tammy was the first woman in the 100-year history of the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) to serve as the Board Chair.

Tammy serves on the Board of Directors for Affiliated Distributors, the Elite Distributors Insurance Captive (EDIC), the Greater Fargo-Moorhead Economic Development Corporation and Starion Financial. She also serves as co-chair of the Valley Prosperity Partnership. In 2010, Tammy chaired United Way of Cass-Clay’s annual campaign and raised a record $5 million to fund agency programs and community initiatives.
David White joined the company as executive vice president on August 1, 2016. His areas of responsibility include leading Border States’ five regions, sales and marketing. David previously served as the president of Shealy Electrical Wholesalers before the company was acquired by Border States. David brings strategic vision, sales development, leadership and mergers and acquisitions experience to the team.
He serves on the Border States Board of Directors and has significant private board experience. He is serving a third term as a member of the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) board and has served on several manufacturer advisory councils. He also has been actively involved in local chapters of national charities including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Habitat for Humanity.
After graduating from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, David joined Schneider Electric where he spent 10 years in roles ranging from manufacturing engineer to district sales manager. David joined Shealy in 1999 as an equity partner, assuming the position of executive vice president. He was promoted to president in 2011..
Jeremy joined Border States in December 2011 as the CFO. He is a member of both the Senior Leadership Team and the Executive Council, and leads the finance, accounting, customer financial services and risk management functions of the company.
Before working at Border States, Jeremy was an Audit Partner with Grant Thornton, LLP, a national public accounting firm and international accounting organization. He has experience working with public and private companies in the technology, manufacturing, distribution and construction industries.
Jeremy worked in London, England, from 2005-2007, gaining experience with international financial reporting standards and has significant experience with mergers and acquisitions.
He is a member of both the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is active with the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Association and serves on the Leadership and Development Council of the Employee-owned S-Corporations of America (ESCA).
Jeremy is a current board member and serves on the Finance Committee for the Plains Art Museum, a not-for-profit organization, and he has previously served on several not-for-profit organizations’ boards.
Jeremy graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Superior in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Ryan joined Border States in 1996, and has held various positions within the company including Network Administrator, Network Supervisor, IT Infrastructure Manager and Director of Information Technology.
He belongs to a number of national IT industry groups including the IT Service Management Forum and International Alliance of Avaya Users, and is the past president of the local Avaya Users Group.
In addition, Ryan serves on the Minnesota State University Moorhead Computer Science and Information Systems advisory board and the Minnesota State Community and Technical College Information Technology advisory committee.
Jason began his career with Border States in November 1999 as part of the Utility Marketing team. He has served as an Inventory Planner, Sales and Marketing Coordinator for the Utility Market and Purchasing Manager. In May 2009, Jason was named Director of Inventory and Operations, and in April 2010, he was appointed Vice President Operations and Inventory and joined the Executive Council.
Jason was promoted to Vice President Procurement in 2013 to provide a stronger focus in the areas of inventory, pricing and sourcing. On April 1, 2015, he was promoted to Senior VP and joined the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). In addition to his focus on procurement, he leads the company’s data and analytics efforts.
Jason is a member of Border States’ Technology, ESOP and 401(k) committees. He also serves on industry committees including IDEA’s Industry Advisory Council and the NEAD’s LEAD committee as the 2016 chair. Jason is a member of the Association for Operations Management (APICS), the Institute for Supply Management, and Minnesota State University Moorhead’s Operations Management Advisory Board.
Jason received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a Master of Business Administration from North Dakota State University.

Mike has spent most of his career with large global industrial companies, including Whirlpool Corporation and Eaton Corporation.
Jason joined Border States in May 1995 as a Management Trainee. He has worked in various positions including Product Manager, Automation Account Manager, Northwest Region Industrial Sales Manager and Director of Sales.
In 2010, Jason was appointed Vice President Sales, joined the Executive Council and then became Vice President Northwest Region.
Jason is a member of the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) Leadership Enhancement and Development (LEAD) organization, participates in Minnesota State University Moorhead’s Alumni Foundation and was a 2010 United Way campaign leader. He led the company’s initiative to support Red Cross’ need for increased capacity to serve Western North Dakota.
Jason was named Executive Vice President and joined the Senior Leadership Team in April 2013. In September 2013, he was promoted to his current position.
Poke has been with Border States since May 2003. He has served as Supply Chain Services Specialist, Business Development Specialist and Region Manager.
Poke was named Vice President Northwest Region in 2007, and has been a member of the Executive Council since 2006. In late 2010, Poke was named Vice President Sales.
In 2011, Poke earned his current position, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing. Poke joined the Senior Leadership Team in April 2012.
Patrick has been with Border States since December 2000. He held a variety of positions including Strategic Business Relationship Specialist, Utility Sales and Marketing Coordinator, Electric Utility Marketing Manager, Utility Market Manager and most recently Director of Marketing.
Patrick joined the Executive Council in 2013. He is also a Board Member of the North American Association of Utility Distributors.
Shane started his career with Border States in 1993 as a driver in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He held positions as City Desk Representative, Customer Service Representative, Account Manager and Branch Manager. In 2011, he moved to Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, to become the Northeast Region Sales Manager for the construction and industrial markets. In June 2014, he was promoted to Northeast Region Manager.
Shane serves on the Board of Directors for the North Central Electrical League and is active with the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and the Minnesota Electrical Association.
Shane and his wife, Alison, live in Plymouth, Minnesota. They have two children; Evan, 18, will be attending the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks this fall, and Lauren, 15, will be a sophomore in high school. Shane enjoys his children’s sports and musical activities, attending Minnesota Vikings games, playing golf, church and spending time with his family.
Brad Kvalheim joined Border States in 1989 as an electronic service technician in the company's Fargo, North Dakota, location. In 1992, he became utility customer service representative for the upper Midwest, including Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. In 1995, Kvalheim moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and became an account manager. In this role, he was integral in coordinating five utility alliance agreements with multiyear commitments. He also served as the branch manager in Sioux Falls and as the Northwest region utility sales manager.
Gary Daniel was named Vice President South Central Region and joined the Executive Council on April 1, 2014. Gary started at Border States in 2010 as an Alliance Manager in the Amarillo, Texas, branch. His recent positions include South Central and Southwest Region Utility Sales Manager, and South Central Region Manager.
Gary leads the South Central region, which includes 19 branches in Tennessee, Texas and New Mexico.
Gary is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and an MBA in management.
Matt joined Border States in June 2005 as the Southwest Region Manager, and was named Vice President Southwest Region and an Executive Council member in 2006. He has general management responsibilities for the company's branch locations in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and El Paso, Texas.
Matt is a member of the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) and Affiliated Distributors (AD). He has served on the Thomas & Betts Distributor Advisory Council, Siemens Distributor Advisory Council and Rockwell Operational Distributor Advisory Council.
Don Masters, formerly Shealy Electrical Wholesalers senior vice president – installer market, became the vice president of BSE’s southeast region August 1, 2016.

Blake joined Border States in November 1993. He has held various positions including Vice President Sales, Vice President Southwest Region, Southwest Region Business Development Manager and Director of Business Development.
Blake is an active member of the Instrument Society of America (ISA) and the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA). He is a leader in Boy Scouts of America and works to build housing for disadvantaged families in Mexico with Amor Ministries.
Blake began his current position as Vice President Business Development in 2009 and joined the Executive Council in February 2012.
Lex joined Border States in 1984, and has served in a variety of positions at both the branch and corporate levels. He has served as Engineer, Branch Manager, Corporate Utility Sales Manager and Corporate Marketing Manager for utility products.
In 2000, Lex was named Vice President Sales and Marketing for utility and named to the Executive Council. In 2005, he was named Vice President Supply Chain Services, and in 2009, he was named Vice President Alliance Director.
In 2012, he worked as Vice President West Region, then transitioned to his current position. Lex serves on several manufacturer and customer advisory councils pertaining to the commercial and technical aspects of the evolving supply chain.
Phil joined Border States in 2006 when we acquired Nunn Electric where he had worked since 2001. He has served in a number of positions including Area Operations Manager, Branch Operations Manager and South Central Region Operations Manager, and was selected as one of the first participants in our Management Trainee Program when it was launched in 2006.
Most recently, Phil served as Vice President South Central Region when he joined the Executive Council in 2012. Phil participates in the Associated General Contractors of America and Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC). Phil began his current role as Vice President Operations in April 2013.
James Sipe joined Border States Electric through the Shealy acquisition in 2016 where he was the vice president of operations. James was promoted to vice president strategy enablement and joined the Officers Council at Border States on April 1, 2017. James is a key leader in the organization for process improvement.
With over 25 years of distribution experience, James has worked in a variety of business roles that include inside sales, outside sales, national accounts, operations (branch and corporate level) and product strategy/marketing. This diversity of experience allows him to bring people together, drive efficiency and value by facilitating repeatable process, leading successful integrations, prioritizing and delivering maximum value on strategic projects and establishing data and analytics as a core strength.James is a graduate of The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He is a veteran of the South Carolina National Guard, which has honored him with multiple awards for service and leadership.
